Gum Grafts Santa Pola

Gums can recede or shrink even in the absence of bacterial infection.
One of the most important causes of recession is improper brushing. Using a medium or hard bristled toothbrush, or using too much force by pressing the brush against the gum, can cause gums to recede.
Another cause of receding gums is dental malposition, or simply improper hygiene.
When the gums recede, the tooth roots are exposed to the oral environment. This can cause the teeth to become sensitive to heat or cold. In addition, teeth with significant recession are more prone to develop root decay.
Dentists can treat gingival recession. In a surgery under anesthesia, gum tissue is taken from another part of your mouth (palate) and moved to the affected area. This is known as grafting.
